2 Hour Paddle: Nature Center to Tridge

Perfect trip for first-time kayakers, kids, and anyone looking for 1-2 peaceful hours floating on the water. The water is calm, 1-3 feet in most places, and ripe with wildlife. You could see eagles, turtles, muskrats, fish, and a variety of birds. 

This trip begins and ends at the Tridge downtown Midland, MI with plenty of dining and refreshment options a block away when you return. Follow Ashman Street through downtown, down the hill, to the green pavilion. There is plenty of parking at or near the pavilion. Look for the white Nor'East Outdoors Shuttle Van!

3 Hour Paddle: Upriver Section

Want to spend a little more time on the water? This trip takes about 3 hours of leisurely paddling to complete. Popular with those who paddled the short trip and want to see a new section of the Chippewa River. This section is 1-3 feet (dependent on recent rainfall), calm, winding, and quiet. Plenty of wildlife sighting opportunities!

This section covers Meridian Road to the Chippewa Nature Center. Meet at the Nature Center and a Nor'East Outdoors shuttle will take you to the Meridian Road Launch. You will then spend the next three hours floating and paddling back to the Nature Center. Bring your hiking shoes and explore the Nature Center trails and when you are done paddling! 

4 hour Paddle: Meridian Rd to Tridge

This trip combines the two sections of the Chippewa River described above. Perfect for those with some paddling experience who are ready for 3-4 hours of paddling. Pack a lunch or snacks and spend the day surrounded by nature! When you get back to the Tridge there are plenty of indoor and outdoor dining and refreshment options a short walk from where you are parked.

Meet at the Tridge downtown Midland. A Nor'East Outdoors shuttle will take you to the Meridian Road Launch. Spend the next 3-4 hours paddling back to the Tridge!
