Who We Are

Hello! My name is Stacie Scherman and I am the owner of Nor'East Outdoors. I am excited to meet you and help bring you, your friends, and family closer to nature on Michigan's rivers and lakes.

I started kayaking ten years ago when I signed up for the annual biathlon in Indian River, Michigan. I rented a kayak and got a crash course from Brasswind Landings Arts and Adventure Paddle Sports. I fell in love. Over the next ten years I bought my own kayak, continued racing, and discovered stand up paddle boarding (SUP) while exploring the waterways of lower and upper Michigan and parts of Florida.

In June of 2020, I learned that Brasswind Landings Paddle Sports was for sale. I had recently sold my own business and moved north (to Midland). The opportunity to combine my passion for paddling with entrepreneurship, and "carry the paddle" for the people who got me started felt like kismet. By July I was up and running as Nor'East Outdoors.

I kept the business mobile and expanded our service area to cover all of the inland waterways of mid- and northeast Michigan. We currently have over 30 boats ranging from beginner kayaks to fast-water and open water kayaks, standup paddle boards, and family friendly tandems. All of our equipment is high quality and our guides are experienced and certified.
